Speaking of the Marvel Age icons: While looking at FF #19 on the dvd-rom collection, guess whose missive was in the letter column, praising Thor and razzing the Red Ghost? There was no suggestion that a duck be added to the group, however. Nor was there any hint that you’d be one of the last writers to script Kirby, a mere 20 some years later!

    Dear Steve,
In all your years in the comics field, I don’t believe you ever worked with Steve Ditko. (Please correct me if I’m wrong.) Would you have wanted to? Did it ever come close?
It’s a shame you’re currently doing something so completely alien to him like a split book with a mystic doctor.

  3. Steve Gerber Says:

I never got to work with Ditko, and it’s probably a good thing for both of us. Although I’m an enormous fan of his work, we see the world so differently that we would drive each other nuts.

Bummer! I clicked the link to see this video & it has been removed. I used to be a HUGE Ditko Fan when I was a little kid. There was a comic book called “Shade, The Changing-Man” or something like that & it was a favorite. Plus, who can ever forget his work on Spiderman, ha ha!
