Another Hard Time Article

“Doing More *Hard Time* with Steve Gerber” by George Tramountanas on the Comic Book Resources site. George asked a couple of questions that other interviewers didn’t. You may find them interesting.

Is it just me, or is anybody else suddenly missing comic book letters pages?

Very much so. Did they need to include one more page of ads that badly?

    Great interview.
Yes, I miss those letter columns too.

  3. Brian Spence Says:

I miss letters pages and covers that actually SAY something. Remember when covers used to taunt you to what might be inside? As a kid, of course you’re going to read the cover. That old trick suckered me into reading sooooo many comics back in the day.

Letter columns used to keep me reading them, in many cases.

Dark Horse is doing a good job with letter columns, but it seems that everything is moving to the web. Unfortunately, nobody but the faithful read a comic’s bulletin board.

  4. Ben Markeson Says:

Why have letters columns become a thing of the past?

Is it so the companies have room for more ads? Actually, i should just say is it so DC has more room for ads since Marvel still has letter columns.

Or is it to relieve editors of some work?

    Anyone have any theories?

  5. KDT Says:

Bill Willingham (and other writers) have taken the reins into their own hands and put forums that include letter pages on their websites. This has the added advantages of being publisher independent, and feedback can start as soon as the issue is out.
